Lanier Community Garden
published on May 22, 2018 by William Wagner
Last year we tried our best to get a garden going, but the rain and no sun in our yard made it almost impossible. Between the rain, deer, bugs, varmits, etc. We could not get anything to grow well.
We had given up on planting here and then we ran across Suwanee Community Garden and wished we could have something like this up here. During the late winter we came across a sign for Lanier Community Garden and so we called to see what was up.
Lanier Community Garden turned out to be good for us. 80 lots; 20’X20’ plots; you can buy as many as you want to work; $45 a year (includes water); half plots for $27.50 a year; they have tools and lawn equipment included, just off Buford Dam Rd. Right now, there are about 15 plots left and still plenty of time to get a garden going. You get the plots for a year, starting in January. Organic and regular plots are still available.
Local people are running it, and everyone helps to maintain and run this. They have a Children’s Garden and they also have a garden that they contribute fresh vegetables to the NorthGwinnett Co-Op here in Buford.
